I had to appeal three times before $40 of my $120 claim for expenses incurred as a result of baggage delay was allowed. They didn't think the cost of transportation to get to a store to purchase needed clothing was reimbursable. People I spoke to on the phone had no authority to deal with the claim. The documents sent to me referred to me as "the patient" on what was obviously a medical insurance form. I think the claim was finally allowed only because I was stubborn and persistent.

Amazingly quick coverage with no hassle. We had to cancel the entire trip due to a medical emergency. Our entire trip was refunded quickly without any back and forth.

Had two issues on our trip. One was a flight diversion due to weather that caused us to miss the first day of our tour. The other was a medical issue that required a visit to a foreign medical clinic. Both were handled promptly with only minor hassle.

I purchased identical plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas vacations out of the country. Due to an airline mechanical failure I missed one night of my Thanksgiving pre-paid resort stay. The claims adjusters were very prompt in reviewing and approving my claim (less than $200) and I have already received the check. The airline covered hotel and meals because it was mechanical failure but if the delay had been due to weather, those items would not have been covered and the $500 delay coverage would not have been enough to pay for those items as well. It is just insurance and I was willing to self-insure for those incidentals. Before you leave the airport make sure to get the form from the airline certifying the reason for the missed or delayed flight. You will need it for your claim.

I filed a claim after first discussing it with a phone representative who said what part of the policy she thought would cover it. My claim was denied in full saying that I wasn't entitled to reimbursement because the cost of my cruise was refunded but I did not request reimbursement for that!

Due to a personal tragedy at home my wife and I interrupted a cruise and returned home at the next port. The claim form and related documentation requested by AXA Assistance USA was emailed to their claims office on December 9th. On December 14th, I received an email from the claims adjuster confirming approval of the claim and that the payment check would be received in 10 to 15 business days. Based on my experience I would highly recommend this company.

My husband and I unfortunately developed bronchitis/walking pneumonia on our Viking River Cruise. A doctor made a "house" call to the boat in Hungary and prescribed medication. When we returned to the United States, we called AXA Assistance USA, who helped us find an Urgent Care facility in Atlanta before we returned to our home in Florida. Urgent Care also prescribed medication. We filled out AXA's online claim form and attached scanned copies of all our paperwork and receipts. They paid almost $700 in full within two weeks with no questions. We'll definitely use them for our next trip!

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. After cancelling your trip, you contacted AXA Assistance USA to cancel your travel insurance policy. The AXA Assistance USA Gold plan for residents of Illinois has a 10 day free look period, "You may cancel insurance under the Policy by giving Us or Our Administrator written notice within 10 days from the Effective Date. If You do this, We will refund Your premium paid provided You have not filed a claim under the Policy."
Unfortunately, your request to cancel the policy came outisde of the 10 day free look period so you were unable to receive a full refund of premium. However, AXA Assistance USA provided a pro-rated refund of premium under the following clause, "You have the right to cancel the Policy at any time by giving advance notice to Our Agent or Us (stating when thereafter the cancellation shall be effective). We will refund any unearned premium to You within 10 days of cancellation."
