Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that you are dissatisfied with this plan. You are correct in that the International Medical Group Patriot International is a secondary policy. The majority of travel insurance policies are secondary.
If a travel insurance plan is secondary, the insured person(s) would be required to file a claim with their primary health insurance first. If coverage is denied or only partially provided, the travel insurance would cover the remainder, up to the policy limit.

Fortunately I didn't need to invoke the coverage, so I'll never know just how good it really was. On the other hand, it's disturbing to find out just how bad one's own regular, and expensive, health plan actually is for events out of state, much less out of the country. As a gap filler, the PI plan seemed to offer exactly the coverage I needed for peace of mind, and at a very good price.

My wife and I didn't need to avail ourselves of the insurance. How does one know how good the insurance is if it wasn't used? The published level of coverage was reasonable for the premium charged.
