This plan worked out great for us. Due to an illness in our family we were unable to take our trip. We had to provide bank or credit card statements for all expenses and once we did the claim was processed in a matter of days. The checks were mailed out promptly but the USPS took almost 2 weeks to deliver. We would have lost over $17000 without this insurance. Customer service (Flo) was very helpful answering questions we had.

I had to cancel a trip due to an injury 2 weeks before I was due to leave. It was a group trip with hotel, daily transport to ski areas, airfare and other items. I showed documentation for airfare not being refundable and all my payments. Within 3 weeks I had my check. The representative called me with one question. She was polite and understood my claim once we spoke. I am more than satisfied.

For 4 months they kept asking me for additional information and I complied every time. Finally, they refused to pay for the trip interruption for the reason beyond my understanding.
We had to leave vacation in Florida because of the hurricane Ian was coming and lost 2 days of condo and car rentals. If this is not trip interruption, then what is?

Was extremely disappointed that we did not get a partial refund for the 3 out of 5 says we were supposed to stay. Hurricane ian was approaching & even if there wasn’t a mandatory evacuation at the time, we didn’t want to wait as we were on an island & know how bad the bridges can get. Being on a island during a hurricane is NOT a good idea..I was hoping to get SOMETHING back. Obviously I wasn’t looking for the whole thing. Would appreciate you looking at this again. It truly was not fair!

I filed a straightforward claim for a relatively small amount of money, "cancel for any reason", and the proper paperwork was submitted at that time. I was informed today that the claim will not be reviewed for 60 BUSINESS DAYS, due to limited staffing, etc. This is unacceptable, and apparently I do not have any other means of expediting the process. Waiting 12 weeks for the claim process to BEGIN is not reasonable, and will prevent me from buying from Nationwide again, or recommending the company to anyone else.
Contact me ONLY if you can help move this claim along faster.

I apologize for the delay with your claim. Prior to the pandemic, travel insurance claims were typically processed within 30 days provided that all necessary documentation was sent in. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the volume of requests has become quite overwhelming over the last year and the normal processing time for claims with most Providers in the travel insurance industry is around 3-4 months.
We needed to cancel our trip due to an immediate family member's unexpected illness. We filed a claim with Nationwide and were satisfied with the coverage, payment and resolution of the claim; albeit the process took much longer than Nationwide's stated timeline for settling claims However, we fully understand and anticipated that given the many challenges travel insurance companies are presently experiencing with the ongoing pandemic, the process would be delayed. Without this coverage we would have incurred a substantial loss. We are very pleased with the the coverage and resolution of our claim with Nationwide and will utilize them again in the future and recommend them to other travelers.

Now that my claim has been settled, I would say I am satisfied. Trying to get through on the phone to customer service was quite a challenge. However kudos to customer service representative. I would give the company five stars. She was extremely helpful and assured me that this claim would be handled effectively, fairly and to my satisfaction. It’s employees that make a difference when dealing with a big corporation. So overall I would give the insurance company a good rating .

Claims for this plan are managed by a 3rd party "Coordinated Benefit Plans". My claim has been processing now for almost 3 months, and they do not have any timeline on when they claim will be adjudicated. They say it's because of a high volume of claims, and anytime they ask you for new documentation, it resets the clock all over again. CBPs customer service is terrible, they don't commit to anything and don't resolve anything either. You just have to sit and wait, meanwhile if your charges are on a credit card, you have to eat the interest costs. Please avoid any policy managed by CBP at all costs.

I had a change of intinerary claim with Nationwide. Per the website, it should be processed within 15 business days. I understand that there are lots of claims with whats going on in the world but I called 3 times regarding the processing of my claim since it was over the time limit. On the 3rd time, I was told that even though I downloaded all the appropriate forms and information, that noone uploaded them into the claims system. Why didn't the first 2 reps see that? Due to that error, it took about 45 days for my claim to be approved. Its a good thing I called again and spoke to a rep who took the time to look at my claim or who knows when or if I'd ever be paid. I like Nationwide. Use them on most cruises. I would use them again but I just suggest if you have a claim to stay on top of them to make sure its processed timely.

We thank you for your feedback. We hope you enjoyed your vacation.
The Travel Insurance industry as a whole has been experiencing high call and email volume due to the concerns with the ongoing pandemic. This can result in longer than usual wait times. We are happy to hear about the outcome of your claim and appreciate your patience throughout the process.
If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact our team of representatives at 800-487-4722 or by email at [email protected].
Due to a family emergency we had to cancel our trip. We thought that we were well enough insured but sadly this was not the case. Cancellation due to an injury or illness of a non traveling person was covered by the insurance, but only if that person is living in the USA, Mexico or Canada. It would have been nice if this was mentioned in the "small" letters before you purchase the insurance plan, or anywhere on the website. Only after purchasing the plan it was mentioned in the paper work that nobody ever reads! Costumer care was not helpful at all and only said: "you should have read the 20 plus pages after you purchased the plan". I think this kind of information should be more clear before you buy a plan.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. It is never pleasant to hear that your claim was denied. Before, during and after you purchase the insurance you have a copy of the certificate available for review. This provides you with the finer details of the plan such as definitions, coverage's and exclusions. We suggest customers review the certificate to best understand their coverage. For customers with specific concerns, we suggest calling us at 800-487-4722 and we can assist you with finding a plan that covers your concerns.
