Horrible company. Used an extremely briefly worded stipulation in the contract to deny my claim. And it just so happened to be the very first thing they asked for after it took weeks to even get back to me. Basically just a scam. Noticed other reviews online with the same issue. Honestly don’t understand how their rating is so inflated on many websites. Steer clear and go with a more reputable insurance.

You are NOT COVERED if you book your return flight after you depart OR if you change your return flight without requesting a change from them. Do yourself a favor and AVOID at all cost because this is such a SLIMEY COMPANY. Travelex underwritten by Berkshire Hathaway.
The coverage and cost seemed to be a great option. My wife needed to go to the ER while on our trip and thought ‘great thing we bought travel insurance’ because obviously this was going to be costly. She got taken care of, we paid for everything, and then filed a claim. About 3 weeks later we finally get a response asking some odd questions including proof of our flights (even though the hospital was in the country we said we were going to). Little did I know that these questions were SNEAKY ways to get out of paying claims. We sent our flight info to them and waited another few weeks. They messaged us back asking which day we booked our return flight because, even though we’re well within the time period of coverage…YOU ARE NOT COVERED if you book your return flight after you depart OR if you change your return flight without requesting a change from them. I went through and read the contract again and it was very briefly worded on pages 34 and 37 of the 59 page contract. ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE. This why they start off with asking these questions because it’s is an easy way to toss out lots of claims. Don’t make the same mistake as us and go with someone else.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (“BHSIC”) is the underwriter and claim administrator for the policy you purchased. Travelex Insurance Services does not make claim determinations. We have contacted BHSIC, and they have advised that they do not have a claim initiated and have had no correspondence with you.
Listed below are the policy’s Effective and Termination Dates, and the definition of Trip, which may help provide clarity as to why the return date must be booked prior to the time of departure.
The policy ends on the earliest of:
(a) the date the Trip is completed;
(b) the scheduled Return Date;
(c) the Insured’s arrival at the Return Destination on a round Trip, or the Destination on a one-way Trip; or (d) cancellation of the Insured’s Trip.
“Trip” means a period of travel away from home to a Destination outside the Insured’s City of residence and;
the purpose of the Trip is business or pleasure and is not to obtain health care or treatment of any kin
the Trip has defined Departure and Return Dates supported by Travel Documents prior to the time of departure;
the Trip does not exceed the Maximum Trip Length Allowed listed in the Schedule; (d) and travel is primarily by personal automobile or Common Carrier.
It is important to remember that insurance is highly regulated, and all claims are determined based on the required documentation submitted and the policy details for the policy you purchased.

Thank goodness I did not have to file a claim, but it was comforting to know that I had protection I needed on my 10-day vacation. The coverage was priced similarly to what the cruise carrier offered, but FlexiPAX also covered may post trip travel and the round-trip air - should I have needed it.

Purchased coverage for a $8600 river cruise for $550 which I thought was a fair price. Then we decided to add a 3 day extension to our trip and purchased some guided tours. This increased the trip cost by $4000. I figured the insurance cost would go up accordingly (~$250) but it more than doubled, going up $575. After that I no longer felt it was a reasonable cost.
