The cruise itinerary we originally purchased changed and we shifted the cruise embarkation date by one week. One would think it would be a hassle free exercise to change the insurance coverage dates. One would be wrong.
The number of email exchanges, documents, duplicate documents, duplicate explanations and multiple phone calls were required. It would have been easier to scrap the original policy and purchase a new one. So much for the creed “customer satisfaction.”

Agents suggest you take out the policy several months in advance. Cruise and flight cancelled, but rebooked at a cheaper cost. Insure my trip Nationwide refused any refund saying I only had 10 days to cancel or change Poilicy. Cruise line and air carrier gave refunds for price difference, not Nationwide! They took advantage of the situation! Will NEVER use Insure my Trip Nationwide again!

We are sorry to learn that your trip was postponed. Fortunately, Nationwide Mutual Insurance was able to transfer your policy to the new travel dates at no additional cost. You are correct in that most comprehensive travel insurance policies have a review period, typically 10-15 days from the date you purchase the plan, depending on the state you live in. The Nationwide Essential plan in your state of residence has a 10 day review period in which insureds are able to cancel the policy or make any changes that would result in a premium refund. There are no refunds outside of the review period. For information about how travel insurance can accommodate a rescheduled or cancelled trip, please call us at 800-487-4722.
After looking at many travel insurance providers, we chose Nationwide. Unfortunately, my wife got sick and had to go to the medical center on the Carnival Breeze. We filed with our primary insurance and with Nationwide. My primary applied the entire amount to our deductible. Nationwide paid the entire amount. Yes you have to provide ALL the documents needed and it does take a while. Our cruise was in January and we got the check the 1st week of April. It took longer for my primary to process the claim. Once they received the necessary documents, Nationwide paid in about 15 or so days. We’re very happy with the process. Thank you Nationwide

I want to thank Nationwide and Oncall for the excellent service in getting me home from out of the country as well as the coverage and (as promised) responded to my claim in just under 15 business days. All of the staff that my wife and I spoke with during this difficult time were friendly, efficient and provided answers to all of our questions. I received an additional invoice from the ambulance company after I filed the original claim and you had approved. I called to ask how I should submit this additional claim and you gave an answer and a simple process on how to send it.
Thank you to all and we will certainly use your insurance again in the future and have already recommended you to family and friends.

Been a customer for a few trips now and never needed to file a claim. But curious if the policy that we purchased would of covered us if we needed to leave the ship at a port and fly home because of illness? The reason why I ask is because a couple we were traveling with had to do just that. The male traveler came down with walking pneumonia and NCL strongly suggested they get off at Cozumel and fly home. Reason being was the next three days will be at sea and if you need to be medevac'd off the ship we will be out-of-range for helicopters to reach us. That being said they chose to disembark at Cozumel to be safe. So I was wondering if the plan we purchased would of covered the travel expenses. Thanks so much and looking forward to purchasing our next travel policy.

Thank you for your feedback on this policy. For the Nationwide Essential plan the number one covered reason for Trip Interruption is as follows:

The Company will reimburse You, up to the Maximum Benefit shown on the Confirmation of Coverage, if You join Your Trip after departure or are unable to continue on the covered Trip due to any of the following reasons that are Unforeseen and
takes place after departure:"
This plan has 250,000 USD per person in Medical Evacuation under the following terms in your certificate:
"Emergency Evacuation means:

or sick to the nearest Hospital where appropriate medical treatment can be obtained;
(b) after being treated at a local Hospital, Your medical condition warrants Transportation to the United States where
You reside, to obtain further medical treatment or to recover; or
(c) both (a) and (b), above."
Please call us at 800-487-4722 if you have any questions or concerns. We would be happy to assist you.
While understanding age is a large contributing factor, your policies do not take into consideration other factors such as non-smoker or fit bodies, hence the 4 stars above.

First time we have filed a claim. Took some work getting all the documentations that is required when you cancel a cruise. I did all they asked and was rewarded with my money back fairly quickly. Thank you Nationwide.
