It would be nice to be able to personalize coverage.
For example: we did not need evacuation insurance because we have a seperate policy we carry 24/7.
We just needed luggage and ship medical.

A % refund for not using would be a great sales pitch. Even if it was 5 to10%. And you could add qualifier...by recieving this refund you agree this policy is closed and no claims can be filed on it.

It was very nice to receive your comments. (1) Although you could not pick and choose each coverage, April Travel Protection would have allowed you to purchase the policy without insuring the cost of your trip. This would have eliminated the Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage and reduced your premium by $264. (2) Many of the annual Emergency Medical Evacuation Plans will transport you only if you are an inpatient from one hospital to another, whereas the evacuation coverage offered under the April plan would have transported you from the point of injury to a hospital where your sickness or injury could be reviewed and diagnosed by a certified medical physician. (3) Although it may appear as a good idea for a company to refund a percentage of premium if you do not file a claim, that is a form of "Rebating" which is illegal according to state insurance statutes.

I was extremely pleased with the plan and response. The claims filing was really simple compared to the other travel insurance I have used previously. If traveling again, I will certainly use this company and plan again!

Medical problems arose and our trip had to be canceled prior to it's start. Upon filing for a refund of our prepaid expenses, it took 30 days to receive a refund. It was sometimes difficult to get a response when communicating with April Travel Protection and many pages of documentation, including 2 statements from our physician were required. However, at 30 days we received a full refund of all prepaid expenses for our canceled trip. We are very glad we purchased it, considering the unexpected medical issue. We would do so again, obviously.

Every plan is a good plan until you need to use it. That is when the quality of the plan and company administrator shows its true colors. Thankfully we didn't need to file a claim with April Travel Protection, so that meant we all had a great trip with no problems or health issues.
