I'm very displeased with compensation for missed connections. I've never made a travel insurance claim prior to this, so maybe my expectations are all wrong. Travel insurance apparently offers no benefit for your lost time. My return flight was delayed 3+ hours from Europe, which had a cascade effect in the US, causing an even greater delay. The airline gave me a stand-by ticket and a hotel room. I did not get selected for the first standby flight (there were 20+ people on standby that evening). My flight didn't leave for the final destination until the next day, resulting in a missed work day. What was reimbursed by this insurance plan? Only the ride share to/from the hotel, which was less than $40. What cost me the most money was that lost day of work. The claim took two weeks to resolve.
UPDATE 1: Let me clarify "resolve". Two weeks is when I received the explanation of benefits (EoB). My original review did not account for post-EoB incompetence. I filed on July 11. I was contacted with the EoB two weeks later. Then on July 30 I was contacted that my wire transfer could not complete. The rep didn't know if they needed wire or electronic/paper. There's a difference but rather than be specific, they then offered to transfer using PayPal. They ask which PayPal email. I tell them it's the same email as the claim. That was July 31 and I still have not received compensation. I'll update again when (if?) they can complete the transaction.
UPDATE 2: I received the PayPal transfer on August 13. That's 33 days from my original filing date for compensation totaling less than $35. Choose your plan accordingly, dear shoppers.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We have submitted this to the insurance company and they have provided the following response.
"Thank you for taking the time to post your concerns and we are sorry to hear of the frustration you experienced while traveling.
We would like to take this opportunity to explain how the policy offers coverage for the different benefits included. The policy that you purchased is a Named Peril Policy meaning the policy outlines how the coverage and benefits apply in the event that your trip is Delayed, Interrupted, or Cancelled.
Trip Delay offers reimbursement for Reasonable Additional Expenses that are incurred due to a Delay, caused by a covered reason, on your trip. Reasonable Additional Expenses are defined as “…expenses for meals, taxi fares, essential telephone calls, local transportation, and lodging which are necessarily incurred as the result of Trip Delay and which are not provided by the Common Carrier or any other party free of charge.”
We are happy to hear that the airline assisted with your hotel and return flight. In the event that the airline did not provide this help, you would have been eligible for these benefits under the policy. The amount reimbursed, under the policy, is less what is paid out from other travel providers, like the airline. Unfortunately, missing a day of work is not listed as one of the covered reasons for any benefits under any policy.
We appreciate your feedback, in relation to your reimbursement, and we did contact the Claim Administrator on your behalf. The Claim Administrator will take this opportunity to further improve their processes.
We trust that you understand the Claim Administrator’s decision is based on the terms and conditions of the policy and the available information.
We have always bought Travelex insurance. They offer a competitive premium and primary not secondary coverage.
We had our first travel claim on our last trip, a Trans Atlantic cruise. They covered the incident and we received claims payment within three weeks. Very satisfied.
