AXA Assistance USA Gold
Got Covid-19 five days prior to departure and had to cancel the first part of our trip. Spent almost $6k to get short-notice air tickets for the revised itinerary. Claim just got paid. Took nearly 5 months, but got paid in full! Totally restored my faith in travel insurance, or at least my faith in AXA.

I was a little uneasy about how trip interruption coverage would work. We had a risk of a connection getting missed, but it still seemed to be the best out there. Bottom line, we didn't need to use it but was glad to have glad it.

As we continue to age, the premium costs are escalating at an unappreciated rate. What was a very good value at 5% of the insured amount is nomlonger a good value at 7.5%.

I had to cancel my trip and had purchased the "Cancel for any reason" option. The claim process was straightforward and the company honored the claim and provided the check in a reasonable time and without the need for any follow-up on my part.

Plan covered everything I was concerned about, especially the cost of having to cancel and re-book flight tickets made with frequent flyer miles. I didn't use this feature but it gave me security to know that it was there if an issue arose and I was covered for airline ticket change fees. Also this policy provided more comprehensive medical coverage. Will use it again for my trip next summer.

Tough to judge plan claim performance as we didn't have to use it (good!) Coverage was good. Would purchase again for next trip. Since we are on medicare we always try to purchase first dollar coverage medical insurance.
