There was one occasion when it looked as if we would miss our connecting flight because our plane was delayed. Because we had booked it ourselves on a different airline we would not be helped or directed in any way if we missed the connection. There was a very strong comfort in knowing that if we missed the flight we were insured for that. Well worth the investment.

There were no problems encountered on the trip that required the trip insurance. Its hard to evaluate a product that was not used (good news), but it was nice to have the peace of mind that the insurance was there just in case.
