I understand that the insurance company is based out of Miami and there were two hurricanes back to back. However, I had to send my claim in twice because they said they didn't get the first one. I just forwarded the original email to show it was previously sent. The countdown was started on their end based on the second email. This started their timer a week later than originally submitted. They then arbitrarily changed their deadline from 30 business days to 45 business days. I didn't receive an email about this. A blast email could have been sent to everyone who had filed a claim. While they paid my claim for what I expected, I felt that communication from the insurer was very poor. This is a major negative in my opinion.

Since there were 10 of us to insure, I was always nervous to think that that many might not all be able to make the trip like we were supposed to. Thankfully, we all stayed healthy and safe and enjoyed our trip, especially since we had the peace of mind that we had insurance. Nice people to work with.

World Expeditions cancelled my trip to Madagascar because of a serious outbreak of pneumonic plague. April stated that I wasn't covered if I didn't go because the island wasn't totally quarantined. BUT if I DID decide to go they ALSO told me I wasn't covered because I was aware of the risk before going. THAT is a catch 22 that sounds like over reaching to me and I am following up with a complaint to the Commissioner of Insurance New York State.
