Fortunately, we had no need to file a claim. Our trip went smoothly and was enhanced by the peace of mind we enjoyed as a result of having this insurance. We’ve never purchased trip insurance before, but will not hesitate to do so in the future.
The reviews I read on this product before I bought were very positive, which made our decision that much easier, not to mention a very affordable price.

Unfortunately my husband needed emergency surgery on January 19th due to his falling on our icy driveway that week and completely rupturing his quad tendon. He was unable to walk and we had to cancel our Regent cruise departing January 28th.
We had insured with TravelGuard Gold and they were absolutely stellar. One phone call gave me the information that I needed to file the claim. I waited until after surgery when life was somewhat more stable, and I submitted the claim electronically on Wednesday evening, February 7th. On Friday February 16th I looked online and saw that the claim had a closed status. I called TravelGuard and was told that it had been approved. I received another phone call later the same day telling me that the audit department had also approved the claim... apparently necessary due to the large dollar amount of the claim of nearly $35,000... and I was given a name and phone number to contact if I didn't receive the check in 7 - 10 business days. The check was in fact received within 5 business days, on Friday, February 23rd.
TravelGuard made a very unfortunate situation more palatable by being professional and prompt in all of their dealings. I recommend TravelGuard very highly.

I found it easy to review and compare the plans on the site. I bought this plan mainly because we wanted good medical insurance while traveling in Asia -- we are no longer comfortable that our U.S. health care policies will cover us outside the U.S. Hard to assess the coverage because we did not (fortunately) need to use it.
