Had our European trip cancelled at the last minute due to an air traffic controller strike in Lisbon, Portugal. Although our trans-atlantic carrier immediately provided a full refund, we needed to also cancel our European flight segments - as we were also flying from Portugal to Spain and within Spain - as well as our first night's deposit for our hotel. We contacted a Tru-Travel claims representative who proved to be very professional and courteous; she immediately began processing our claim once we provided payment verification for our flights and hotel.
Within several weeks we received a check in the mail for all our non-refundable payments.

I think travel insurance is too expensive considering how few claims I believe there are. Otherwise, this was the most comprehensive at the lowest price, although I couldn't say how well they do with a claim.

Fortunately, our trip went smoothly and we did not need to use the insurance. But having it provided peace of mind. The site made it easy to compare various plans and features and the price was quite reasonable.
