Very disappointed in claim response--typical of today's insurance companies--collect high premium charges but deny any covered payouts.
I will also be referring case to Illinois consumer affairs, department of insurance.
I will also be writing reviews for my usual travel sites, including trip advisor, warning future travelers to avoid this company.

Generali "lost" my claim, even though I can log in to their website and clearly see it in their system, and I have an email confirmation from early April showing the claim being submitted and the policy number. But their representatives say they cannot see the claim. I'll never use Generali or Insure My Trip again.

I had to cancel my planned trip due to a medical issue. After my conversation with the Generali Global representative, I submitted my claim along with the medical and requested documents. Generali Global quickly processed my claim and advised that the trip costs would be covered. I have used Generali Global on my previous travels and have always been satisfied with their coverage. Because I have always had good results, I usually recommend Insuremytrip.com and Generali Global to my friends and family.

We were in Zimbabwe when the coup occurred November 15, 2017. When we learned of it and heard that US citizens should stay indoors, we decided along with our guide to leave Zim until we knew what was happening. We had paid for three nights stay in Hwange National Park and had one night there. We headed to Botswana and spent the next two days there until we felt that it was safe to travel back to Zim and on to Zambia to pick up our trip.
We lost two nights lodging in Zim and also the park fees. We had to pay for another visa back in to Zim so the costs were not insignificant. After returning home I downloaded the form for trip interruption added ALL of the paperwork and sent it off.
For the next four weeks we heard nothing. Not an email or any acknowledgement that CSA received the package we sent. Finally I called and was told that yes, they had received it and yes, it had a tracking number but the person handling the case was on vacation. Finally this week we received an email stating that they would reimburse us a partial amt of what we had claimed. It was not the most pleasant experience and I do not know if I would ever use this insurance company again. We travel a great deal and like to know that if something goes wrong that the insurance company has our backs. The policy was over $800.

Upon receiving your review to learn that you weren’t completely satisfied with your purchase, we assigned one of our “Anytime Advocates†who offered to look into the claim on your behalf. However, you replied with a very nice email stating that you believed that there was little we could do on your behalf, so we have published your review as originally submitted.
Good luck on your next trip to Armenia and Georgia in October of 2018. If you change your mind and decide to purchase travel insurance, please call Customer Care at (800) 487-4722 weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 AM to 9PM.
Each time I spoke with a CSA representative about a travel protection policy, I was impressed by their calm professional approach to answer my questions clearly and concisely. When I had to file a claim for a canceled trip to Africa because my traveling companion was seriously hurt in an accident CSA processed and approved my legitimate claim in less than a week. I was impressed, but I also followed their directions to provide an adjuster with all the necessary documents to process my claim. I have since purchased another CSA travel protection policy to cover me while on a new trip to Africa. I am convinced this is a reputable company that treats its customers fairly. I highly recommend their coverage to insure a traveler that their needs will be taken care of in case of an emergency, an accident or a unforeseen delay while traveling.
