While I fortunately did not need the coverage, I had peace of mind that if something had occurred it would have been handled. A few years back while traveling abroad with my father,
he bacame unwell in Italy and was hospitalized for a week. He had coverage and was well taken care of, even with transportation to airport. It was very instructive.

I caught the flu on a cruise ship vacation. I had to visit the doctor and get a prescription. My private insurance rejected it because I had not reached my deductible. I submitted it to John Hancock. I bought the silver plan. My claim was reviewed and paid. The communication with the company was positive and prompt. I will definitely use them on my next trip.

It was honestly very comforting after the trauma of left luggage and having to pay to get it to me that John Hancock people processed my claim very quickly and I now have the check in the bank. Thank you.

I called to find out about submitting a claim as we had to abort the trip and return one week earlier than planned when my husband became unable to continue due to a chronic medical condition. We had to get a flight back to the US immediately so he could see his Doctor. I was told that because he didn't see a Dr. in Edinburgh, the coverage could not help nor give us any monies back. We came back immediately because he needed to see his own Dr. familiar with his condition.
This is inadequate coverage not affording the insured the opportunity to submit a claim and being told basically 'don't bother because the plan won't cover your husband' since he didn't see a Dr. before leaving Scotland.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We hope that fellow customers will find your review and our response to be educational and informative.
We are sorry to learn that you had to interrupt your trip due to an illness that your husband suffered. The John Hancock Bronze plan provides coverage up to 10,000 USD per person for unforeseen, accidental injuries or emergency illnesses which first occur during the trip, and are treated by a physician during the trip. If medical treatment is not obtained during the trip, and the traveler waits until returning home to the United States, the travel insurance expires and does not cover the medical bills.

Once again, we returned home having happily NOT used our travel insurance. The best of all possible outcomes. We were glad we had it, however, especially as we watched a fellow tourist being winched out of a cliffside broken-ankle situation in Cornwall. It only takes a minute of thinking how good it is to have a number to call, to reach someone who could figure out how to get us home from that point.
