John Hancock may be an adequate travel insurer but its claims administrator, Sedgwick, caused me never to purchase any type of John Hancock insurance coverage. Nineteen days before scheduled departure for a France guided tour, I had been hospitalized the second time in as many weeks for bronchitis. The second time was also for sinusitis and the new strain of Covid. CT/MRI scans of the sinuses also revealed that I had incurred a minor stroke. Because of the recurring respiratory infections and need for a cardiology referral, the hospital physician signed a statement medically advising to cancel the upcoming trip scheduled for August 20--September 6. Sedgwick rejected the letter for lack of "required documentation" but would not specify what was required. Four times submitting documentation that did not satisfy Sedgwick, I learned it only wanted physician to specify the dates I could not travel. When bronchitis returned for the third time, I showed the physician Sedgwick's email. He retroactively specified the dates I was restricted from travel. I do no recommend John Hancock insurance because of its claims adjuster, Sedgwick. Lesson learned: always confirm if the insurance company also administers claims. Third-party claims adjusters may be paid a bonus for the amount of claims denied. Caveat emptor!

Peace of mind, but very expensive plan, if someone has to cover 6-8 trips a year comes out to be too expensive.
Need to come out with some yearly plan, covering unlimited trips.

We were glad to have medical coverage, even happier not to need it. The auto insurance was needed only to avoid more costly charges at the rental counter.

Fortunately, I did not have the need to file a claim during my travels. However, the process of purchasing the policy was easy, and I was able to obtain the coverage I needed for my trip. The price was reasonable and the agent that helped me was responsive to my questions. I would consider using the John Hancock policy again in the future.

The good news, I never had to use the plan. I do have underlying health concerns so I pick a great plan. I was an insurance agent for 33 years and sold some of product during that period. Our agency had our retirement plan with JH and I was the active administrator.

Thank god did not have to use the policy but it gave peace of mind, especially as there were train strikes in France that occurred just a day before my train trip to Germany. My trains were all on time, but many people were cancelled or delayed...

John Hancock Insurance provided excellent and complete coverage for our claim. My wife was diagnosed with cancer and we had to cancel our trip and we were refunded fully for all committed expenses.
