Travel Insurance Reviews for Travelex Travel Basic

A portion of our trip involving offshore flights was cancelled due to weather. The tour company refunded essentially all of the trip cost ($4K), but retained an "administrative fee" (whatever that is) of $80. I filed a claim for this and it was paid promptly and without any hassles. A tiny claim to be sure, but it was handled efficiently and is the only basis upon which I can make a report.

Everyone that I dealt with when I purchased the plan and afterwards when I had to file a claim was thoughtful and very competent.I would have no compunction in using Travelex in the future.

I was very pleased with the plan and would recommend it to others. A suggestion I might make is to tell customers when they take out the plan to be sure and save their flight and cruise plan since it is asked for if a claim is filed. I was not prepared for that request and although everything worked out well, it might have been easier if had not thrown out those things. My partner and I bought the Travel Basic plan never thinking we would need it...but then I was unexpectedly in a bicycle accident that precluded me from travel. With the mounting medical bills I kept my fingers crossed that we could get our money back that we had already sunk into our (already belated) honeymoon without any hassle. And lo & behold, that's exactly what happened! We submitted all documents that we had and within 10 days of them receiving our claim & supporting documents, we had our checks in hand, no further questions asked. I would highly recommend Travelex Travel Basic and will be sure to purchase it again when we finally get to that honeymoon!

Travelex was extremely slow to respond to a claim even though they turned it down and it could have been done quickly.

I had an item stolen while traveling and filed a claim under this insurance. It was settled with no questions and no resistance on the part of Travelex. How nice an ending to a bad portion of my trip.

Reimbursed charges for doctor's visit on cruise completely. Very satisfied with communication.
