I purchased this policy, with the inclement weather of the NE area being a concern, when it would be time to fly out for our trip. Turns out I was blindsided when my spouse became ill and had to be hospitalized right before our trip. We had to cancel our trip. I made a claim, filled out the claim forms and submitted the required paperwork. After I sent the claim package in, I was sent a check for our total losses in less than three weeks. We will use this travel insurance company again, with the hopes of not having to use it, but the security of having it if we need it.

Had to get medical treatment on the ship for coughing, congestion, etc. - filed a claim and was processed within 3 weeks. They pay as primary so no hassle with having to file with our insurance first, etc. Will definitely use Travelex again - highly recommend!

My husband and I both had to visit the doctor on board ship because of illness. After we got home I filed a claim with the insurer and in less than two weeks we received a check for the total amount of our services. Thank you so much for the quick turnaround and for the promptness in taking care of our claim. Highly pleased!!

As we all know, the primary goal of any insurance company is not to pay any claim. Therefore policy provisions can be configured to exclude issues which companies know may be more likely to occur. In our recent experience we had a delayed flght due to unavailability of a flight crew for on time departure. This delay caused us to miss our connection for a second flight to meet our cruise ship. This was a situation beyond our countrol
Our airline only had that one flight to the departure destination and their offer was to rebook us for a flight the next day, after the ship had left port. With some research we found another airline that could get us there for the second leg of our planned flight itinerary. We got those tickets and were able to make the ship departure on time.
Our travel insurance refused to accept a claim as any flight delay due to to any reason other than airline personnel strike, weather or mechanical problems was excluded. The crew unavailability caused delay was excluded. If the pilot had dropped dead on the jetway and the flight was cancelled, that too would be excluded. If the airport had been closed due to terrorist threat and flights cancelled, that too would have excluded. Insurance companies know this and therefore construct their polices so that only the very less likely issues would be covered. So, will I use this insurance or recommend this company to others. Definetely not.

Thank you for reaching out to us on InsureMyTrip.com (IMT) regarding your claim situation. Although you wrote this review on March 10, 2017, IMT just recently posted your review on March 31, 2017; therefore this caused a slight delay in our response time.
We are sorry to hear of your frustration. I have contacted the Claims Administrator on your behalf and have been advised that, to date, the completed claim forms have not been received by our claims department. Insurance is highly regulated and in order to confirm coverage, completed claim forms and documentation are an important part of the claim process, in order to validate coverage, as it relates to the specific conditions, as listed in the plan purchased.
The protection plan purchased is a Named Peril Policy meaning the policy outlines the coverage included and if the reason for trip cancellation or trip interruption is not listed, coverage does not apply. The Travel Basic policy you purchased offers 13 different reasons to cancel or interrupt your trip, please see the Description of Coverage for a list of covered reasons on pages 11 & 12. The Description of Coverage that was emailed to you on November 9, 2016 at 9:32am, when the policy was purchased.
In addition, the Claim Administrator has also advised that you were reimbursed by Spirit Airlines for your original airline tickets, but you are seeking reimbursement for the additional airfare. We empathize with your situation, unfortunately, crew rest (or unavailability of a flight crew) is not listed as one of the covered reasons. Having said this, I recommend you email Spirit Airlines for a detailed explanation regarding the reason for the flight delay, Crew Rest. Was the Crew Rest required because of an incoming flight that was delayed due to a weather or mechanical issue?
If this information is incomplete or inaccurate, we require completed claim forms and supporting documentation in order to properly assess the claim and determine liability.
Travelex makes every effort to review all concerns from our clients and we hope this provides clarification on the plan benefits and claims process.

We had a wonderful Caribbean vacation on the Jazz Cruise. It was only marred by the theft of my purse when I had left it unattended for a short time. My camera and several other personal items were stolen--thank goodness I left my cash and credit cards in the room safe! A Travelex representative gave me instructions on how to report the loss, and the value of everything (except prescription sunglasses) was promptly processed and refunded to me. Thank you Travelex!

My wife had to go to the medical center on our cruise ship. Treatment and medicine totaled $148.00.
We submitted a claim on Feb. 7 and received a check for the total cost in two weeks. No questions, no problems and fast response.
We will buy a policy from Travelex again.

Our cruise was extended because of a hurricane and we missed our original flight home. We returned a day later on a different airline and from a different city. The plan payed the cost of the new tickets...no problems.

I was frankly shocked given my past experience w/ travel insurance how quickly I received a check for the full amount I was due, no hassle at all. Granted it was a small amount because my personal health insurance covered part of it, but still.

This was the first time we have ever needed travel insurance, after a cruise our flight was canceled and we had to drive to an alternate airport to get home, all of our expenses were covered...we are very pleased with Travelex and will purchase it again for our next trip.
