Travelex Travel Basic
Unfortunately, my wife experienced a potentially urgent medical issue during our trip, causing us to leave our tour group activities for a full day while seeking medical treatment. Berkshire Hathaway (the underwriter for the plan) processed our claim for out-of-pocket expenses (taxis', busfare, and additional meal costs) plus the pro-rata value of a full day of the tour (for both of us) in a "no questions asked" and very prompt manner. (Because we were in the UK's National Health System, no medical expenses were incurred for doctors visits or medications). I would definitely purchase the policy again.

Travelex Travel Basic
Had to file a claim due to my flight being cancelled. Got back 82% of my total claim with the remaining 18% not being reimbursed as that was a cost that would have been incurred anyways (and I figured as much). Took 2 weeks from filing the claim to getting reimbursed. Also provided was an explanation of what part of my claim was getting reimbursed (with sometimes a why). Overall, this was an easy and good experience (especially for my first claim). Would recommend.

Travelex Travel Basic
We were delayed in JFK for 5 hours on our flight from London. We had a flight to Fort Lauderdale that was delayed, and if it hadn't been for asking flight was, would never have known. Delta never posted a change. I will never insure again, because I only asked for $200 for the inconvenience of the whole thing.
We had to walk outside to another terminal in torrential rain, got soaked, because there was no other way to get to the change of terminal. JFK needs to find a better way, than get passengers soaked in freezing rain. We had a meal but I threw the receipt away, so so course the only paperwork I had was the boarding passes. I will never fly Delta again. It was a horrible flight from London, a delay at JFK and we got into Fort Lauderdale at 2.30am the following morning, without a stroller too.

    Dear Margaret:

We want to thank you for taking the time to post your concerns, and we are sorry for your frustration.

The Travel Basic policy has a Trip Delay Benefit Amount up to 500. This benefit allows reimbursement, if there was a 5 hour or more delay, for “hotel accommodations, meals, telephone calls and local transportation while you are delayed.”

I have personally contacted the Claim Administrator on your behalf and they have advised in order to consider reimbursement under the Trip Delay benefit they require proof of the delay, which you may obtain by contacting Delta, and documentation for your out-of-pocket expenses, such as a credit card statement or receipt.

In regard to arriving in Fort Lauderdale without a stroller, the Baggage and Personal Effects Benefit Amount on the Travel Basic plan is up to 500. This benefit provides reimbursement for lost or stolen items as described in the plan. In order to receive the Baggage and Personal Effects Benefit the Claims Administrator would need documentation showing that the stroller was lost or stolen, for instance, from the Airline or Police Department. They would also need a receipt for the original item or replaced item, to consider reimbursement under this benefit.

Please keep in mind that Insurance is highly regulated and in order to validate coverage, claim forms and documentation (including documentation from the airline on the reason for the delay and the lost stroller) are an important part of the claim process as it relates to the specific conditions as listed in the plan purchased.

We trust that you understand the Claim Administrator’s decision is based on the terms and conditions of the policy and the available information. If this information is incomplete or inaccurate, please feel free to submit any additional information to the Claims Administrator and they will gladly reevaluate your claim.

Unfortunately had to file a claim due to snow storm on the east coast (all airports closed). Despite the problems, travelex did not compound them, easy to deal with (2 phone calls and a claim form). Refreshing to have a company do what they promise.
