Due to an unexpected medical diagnosis and procedure a few weeks before our trip, we had to cancel our cruise vacation. In the many years we've travelled and purchased insurance, this was the first time we ever had to file a claim. We had to file the claim which entailed providing documentation from the doctor as to medical condition, cruise purchase receipt, and proof of cruise cancellation. We were reimbursed in full from Nationwide within 3 weeks from the time we filed the claim. I'm grateful that we purchased the cruise insurance from Nationwide and hope to in the future be healthy to again take the cruise - and would again purchase insurance from Nationwide.

A friend purchased the plan for the same trip for less than half my price. What affects the cost? Perhaps more detail when purchasing would have let me know.

We just returned home as one of the last days of mandatory Covid testing to return home to the US. This insurance gave us peace of mind that although a 10 day stay in place order would be inconvenient it wouldn’t leave us with the big unexpected expense. Luckily we didn’t have to use it.

Purchased this plan and fell ill the day before departure and was not able to travel. Completed and submitted all claim forms including a memo describing the fact that the cruise line would not provide a written cancellation confirmation. I was able to sell my reservation to someone else at the last minute (at a huge discount) and reduce the insurer's loss.
Trip cancellation coverage purchased was $4,200.00. My loss was $3,516.12. Nationwide paid a measly $517.20 !!!
