Thankfully, my wife and I did not have to use the insurance or file a claim. It was good to have the coverage, though, for peace of mind. Better to have and not need than need and not have.

Great to have this plan since my brother-in-law (who we were traveling with) was in the hospital 2 weeks before the trip. Luckily we did not have to cancel but the plan would have covered us if we had to. As we get older, the plans cost more, but they do bring peace of mind.

If time, money and inconvenience does not matter to you, then you don't need travel insurance. That pretty much describes nobody you or I know. This is either business or pleasure for you. When things go wrong, one tends to make decisions under pressure and not always good ones. Bad decisions can be expensive or ruin either a vacation or a business venture. Just having the comfort of being insured reduces the pressure of potential money lost. I will never do major travel without it.

During my trip, my passport was stolen on my way to the airport for my departing flight. As a result, I had to incur costs for another hotel overnight stay, as well as trips to the Police Station to report the theft and costs for an emergency travel card and a replacement passport. Filing my claim was simple and straightforward. It is important to retain all original receipts for claimed expenses as these must be submitted along with the claim form and the police report. Customer service agents were extremely efficient and assured a response within 15 business days following receipt of the claim with all supporting documentation. I was very happy to receive a reimbursement check for $315 which covered all my submitted expenses. This was the first time I ever submitted a travel claim and I was very pleased with the process and the outcome. I highly recommend Travelex Travel Select Plan and will purchase this insurance again for future trips.
