Part of our trip had to be cancelled because there was a ground crew strike at all Italian airports and our flight was cancelled and unable to be rebooked. The airline, hotel and car rental were all okay with refunds, but for our Trip to see the MotoGP races we had to dispute the charge with the credit card company. MotoGp won the dispute and so I claimed on the travel insurance our tickets. I filed a claim through online and after I was finished, it said it would email me the confirmation. I got no confirmation at all. So I have no claim number. About a week ago, I emailed someone with all of my policy information again and asked what is going on with the claim. I got an autoreply and again, no word from anyone. Unfortunately, I don;t have a lot of time to call during business hours and be put on hold. Can someone email me back and tell me what is going on? It said 15 business days, but i it has been well past that initial claim date.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (“BHSIC”) is the underwriter and claim administrator for the policy you purchased. Travelex Insurance Services does not make claim determinations. It is important to remember that insurance is highly regulated, and all claims are determined based on the required documentation submitted and the policy details for the policy you purchased.
I’ve listed the policy’s Effective and Termination Dates, and the definition of Trip which may help provide clarity as to why your claim was denied.
The policy ends on the earliest of:
(a) the date the Trip is completed;
(b) the scheduled Return Date;
(c) the Insured’s arrival at the Return Destination on a round Trip, or the Destination on a one-way Trip; or (d) cancellation of the Insured’s Trip.
“Trip” means a period of travel away from home to a Destination outside the Insured’s City of residence and;
the purpose of the Trip is business or pleasure and is not to obtain health care or treatment of any kin
the Trip has defined Departure and Return Dates supported by Travel Documents prior to the time of departure;
the Trip does not exceed the Maximum Trip Length Allowed listed in the Schedule; (d) and travel is primarily by personal automobile or Common Carrier.
We have escalated your concerns to BHSIC, should you have additional documentation you think could support your policy, you are welcome to appeal the claim decision directly, please contact BHSIC at 855.205.6054 option 2, Monday - Friday: 7:00 am-7:00pm CT, or by email at [email protected].
