We had to cancel our cruise due to my wife's illness. Once I got all the paperwork properly filed, they paid our claim in full just 17 days later. We were pleased that we did not have to put up with a long ordeal of questions and justifications.

Too many claim officers work on one claim and the right information is not downloaded in their case file. The claim takes too long to process for a refund.

I would NEVER recommend this plan to my worse enemy! Terrible customer service and refused to pay on a legitimate claim.

We were not able to go on the trip because my wife had a stroke. I got everyone except for one chintzy hotel and one in-country airline that canceled for no charge or refunded me. I'm asking for less money than I paid for the policy. They keep asking me for more and more detailed documentation. I have a feeling they are going to deny my claim.

I would recommend this policy to others but with the following advice. If you make a claim online, keep in mind that the claim examiner assigned to you might not find your situation as straight forward as you think it is. There might be some back and forth -via email or phone call (on your part) about the documentation you submitted (e.g. an explanation in English for a receipt in Italian even though it's pretty obvious what it's for) or a request for more documentation than what you submitted (e.g. submitting not only receipts but credit card statements that match the receipts) .
It will all get worked out, but not overnight and maybe not as quickly as you think it should. I just received my settlement for a claim I initiated 5 weeks ago. I thought that was an acceptable outcome.

One last thing, pay attention to the Trip Delay max. The policy I bought had a daily max of $150. When I was pickpocketed the morning of my cruise and had to stay in Rome overnight to get an emergency passport, then fly to Majorca, Spain to meet up with my ship that would be docking the morning after, I incurred the cost of two nights in a hotel, train and taxi fares, a plane ticket, and the cost of replacing my passport. I was traveling off-season, so both the airfare and the hotel costs were minimal, but I still exceeded the daily limit for 3 days of Travel Delay by $158.00.

The plan payment was fine. Filing the claim was a nightmare. I had to submit the claim repeatedly as your system was not easy to navigate and submit. You asked for multiple items for each part of the claim but almost impossible to get them all in your system.

I purchased a policy through Insure My Trip with Nationwide Mutual for cruise and flight coverage. I had to file a claim in September due to the fact that my cruise was canceled by the supplier due to staffing and supply chain issues as this was a brand new ship.

I contacted them to inform them that the cruise line had canceled my cruise and I needed to know the steps to take to file a claim. I was instructed to provide the cancellation letter from the cruise line plus provide the flight information. I informed them that I had not canceled the flight yet because I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to and I was told to do so and send over all of the information to the claims department. I waited patiently for several only to be told that there was a submission error so resubmitted everything for a second time, the first week of October.

On Oct. 20, 2023, my claim was denied stating that the reason for cancellation was not covered. How is that possible when the cruise line canceled my cruise. I resubmitted an appeal the same day only to now be told, on Nov. 7th that my claim is still denied even though I submitted everything and didn’t cancel my trip due to my own personal reasons. They claim that I’m not entitled for compensation. I only filed a claim for the flight and yet I can’t get reimbursed even though the claims department told me to cancel the flight.

I feel as though this is a trick to keep them from paying on claims. I’ve reported them to the insurance board of my state because this isn’t fair. I don’t recommend this insurance company at all.

To File claim it is the most cumbersome process possible. I paid for my cruise more than 16 months ago and I have to find a bank statement for this purchase to file a claim for a missed flight I incurred to get re-imbursed to hotel expense I paid....why not just show original itinerary and modified one with boarding passes??? Never again will I use this company!! Good riddens

Be sure you understand the difference between Trip DELAY and Trip INTERRUPTION from the Insurer's point of view. It's a difference of a maximum benefit of your trip cost (Interruption) and a maximum of $150 daily (Delay). I still don't understand it.
I was Quarantined in Switzerland during my 2-week trip after testing positive for COVID and was unable to return home as scheduled. I would consider this an Interruption of my trip. Nationwide called it a Delay. As such, I was reimbursed only $450 of my $850 costs for the 2-day interruption. Thankfully it wasn't any longer as the cheapest lodging I could find was $260 nightly.
In addition, after spending 4 hours gathering the plethora of documents and receipts required and mailing it (trying to file multiple documents online was impossible), my claim was delayed for 3 months due to a backlog. I had to call multiple times to get the status of my claim. When my reimbursement finally did arrive, it was short $150 (they misread my claim and only paid for 2 days instead of 3), necessitating another call from me and a wait for final payment.
I think they're reasonably priced if all you're looking for is a trip cancellation in case you get hit by a bus before your trip and can't go, but otherwise I'd look elsewhere.

Plan was easy to acquire and fairly priced. Filed a claim as a result of a British Airways flight that just disappeared from itinerary the day before we left. There was no email, text or follow up from BA. The insurance covered the expenses related the changes I had to make. Very happy with the process and results.
