Travel Insurance Reviews for Travelex

I had no need to use this insurance policy and it cost me $1468 which is by far the most I have ever paid for a travel insurance policy. Travel in the Antarctic is expensive compared to anywhere else in the world (and it was the 7th continent I have visited, and I've been to lots of remote places) . So one should expect to be obliged to buy a comprehensive travel insurance policy and it will be expensive. I suppose if you can afford a cruise in Antarctica you can afford the buy a very expensive travel insurance policy.
The policy provided me with "peace of mind" which is worth something.

No claim filed. In researching with BBB, this plan seemed to have less complaints at a lower cost than some other plans. All plans seem over priced, never sure its really worth it as have never filed a claim. Be sure to closely read all the fine print on any plan before you buy.

It's worth it for the peace of mind, if nothing else, given the nominal cost of coverage vs. the cost of the trip. And consider it for any trip out of the country, even long weekends in Mexico or Caribbean. After getting insurance for BIG trips to Africa, etc., I skipped it for a Cancun weekend, and guess where I needed emergency surgery?

A really meaningful review would require we use the insurance and file a claim. Luckily, we didn't have to. But I give Travelex full marks for providing the coverage we needed in a reasonably clear package. We went to Antarctica, no less, with a ton of air and ground connections, so really needed the lost luggage and the evacuation coverage. Our expedition leaders reviewed our insurance carefully, and they fully approved the Travel Select plan. So although I have no claims experience, I was pleased with the peace of mind.

The coverage was adequate and certainly comparable in cost.
