Had a medical emergency while in Italy. Though everything turned out well, my wife and I missed the first 2 days of our 10 day tour. Once home, I opened a claim and submitted the receipts and documents via the Generali online website.The process required a few emails, a telephone call to my claims agent, and submitting a few extra documents, but we were treated well and reimbursed fairly after 7 weeks. All in all, a good experience with this company.

I took the insurance as I wanted to be safe in case needed. It appeared to a a reasonable plan, comparing to others offered. Happily, no claims were filed. But it is difficult to assess whether or not this company serves its customers' needs well. It would be apparent if a claim had to be filed, but otherwise, how can you really judge.

Thank you for your 5 star review. We are pleased that we were able to assist you in comparing and narrowing down your selections to purchasing the Generali Global Assistance Standard plan. Although you had no need to file a claim, the plan was available at a reasonable price while providing the coverage that you requested for your trip.
Three days before we were scheduled to return home from France, our flight was cancelled because Thomas Cook Airlines went bankrupt. (Our tickets originally were through Condor and it was that airline that transferred our flight to Thomas Cook). We eventually did make it home and when I called Generali to ask if the policy I purchased had any provision for trip cancellation due to insolvency, the agent very nicely said "no" and that I should have purchased the premium plus package for that additional coverage. What irritated me was when the agent's parting words were "The next time you book a flight, you should check the airline's financial status to see if there are any problems." I'll be sure to do that.

Having insurance for a month-long trip to Europe for four, including flights and two cruises, put my mind at ease. Fortunately we didn't need it. Our granddaughter landed in NICU right before our trip, and although I purchased comprehensive coverage, I didn't realize it didn't include "Cancel for any reason." That was my oversight, but our granddaughter was discharged before the trip (and is back to good health) so we didn't have to cancel our plans. Next time I'll be a more savvy shopper.

Unfortunately I did have an incident where I had to contact the insurance upon my arrival in Italy. Their response was immediate and made me feel that I had resources available to me. I could not have asked for better service or a more helpful response as well as prompt handling of my claim once received.
