Travel Insurance Reviews for Crum & Forster - Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus

Unfortunately, in May 2022, while in Greece, I caught Covid and had to remain an extra week, isolated in my hotel room. The tour operator paid for all hotel and meal costs, but I had some incidental costs, including the Covid tests, and I lost two full days at the end of the tour. C&F was backlogged, and I did not receive payment for five months, but they paid all of the extra expenses. They were also good about communicating about delays. Being on Social Security, this is an excellent policy because of its medical coverage, as many others only offer secondary coverage. I highly recommend them.

I called the insurance company to enquire about filing a claim for an "itinerary change". One airline changed the time of one of my flights resulting in a 90 minute later arrival. This change resulted in being unable to catch a connecting flight with another airline. Because the change was less than 2 hours the airline wouldn't help me and said it was a "non-refundable" ticket. I was forced me to purchase a second ticket with another airline so I could catch my second flight. When I bought the insurance I purchased the most expensive one "cancel for any reason" insurance that was supposed to cover "itinerary change". The insurance company told me this "itinerary change" wasn't covered unless it occurred after I had already left on the trip or unless it was a cruise. I did not see anything written about these details in their fine print. I would not recommend this insurance, as it did nothing for me except cost me money.

Reasonable coverage for an extended trip

Plan covered all of the areas I wanted. Mostly concerned with medical coverage and as our Medicare Advantage health insurance does not cover us outside the United States. All other aspects of this plan were good.

I'm glad that it is hard to write a review about how C&F processed my claim...because I fortunately completed my trip to Egypt without incident and had no claims! However, I did feel that the policy had the best range of features to protect me in case of emergency AND it met Egypt's policies requiring travel insurance for entry into the country. I would certainly purchase from this company again as they sent me numerous reminders so that I could change the dates if my trip would have been postponed or cancelled, a very nice touch!
