Although it is never pleasant to discover that you have an uncovered claim, you will find that Generali Global Assistance, along with most travel insurance plans, exclude coverage for "...money, stamps, stocks and bonds, postal or money orders, securities, accounts, bills, deeds, food stamps or credit cards..."
Because there are no travel insurance plans that will cover every situation, InsureMyTrip encourages travelers to carefully review your policy certificate prior to purchasing the policy. Generali also offers a 10 day review period:
"10-DAY RIGHT TO EXAMINE YOUR DESCRIPTION OF
COVERAGE
If you are not satisfied for any reason, you may cancel coverage under the policy within 10 days after receipt. Your premium payment will be refunded, provided that there has been no incurred covered expense and you have not left on your Trip. Return the Description of Coverage to us at the Program Administrator’s office or our authorized agent. When so returned, the Description of Coverage is void from the beginning. After this 10-day period, the payment for this coverage is nonrefundable."
when the flight to Venice the day prior to OUR departure was cancelled, we were very happy to have bought the insurance, just in case our flight suffered the same fate; similarly, we were happy that our luggage was not lost like one of our fellow cruisers, who had NOT bought insurance!

I traveled with a large group. They recommended a travel insurance but it was very expensive I shopped for travel insurance and found Generali Global. Almost exact coverage for a lot less money.

We had to cancel our hiking trip in Italy due to an injury five days before departure. Our claim has been completely resolved in a timely manner. Only wrinkle was I had to resubmit documentation pdf’s by email when the claims adjuster was unable to access them from my online submission. Not a big issue. Glad we used them.

Trip insurance is always great to have to sleep better, but you never really know what you've got unless you have a claim! Unfortunately in my case, I did have a claim and they did respond with excellent service. The biggest challenge was reaching the 800 number with very spotty WIFI signal, but once I made contact Generali swung into action. They used photos of my medical reports to make the determination of what was necessary and made all the arrangements for changing my return trip and arranging door-to-door service on ground and in airports. Once I got home, I filed a formal claim with documentation for non-refundable and additional expenses, and these were paid in a very timely fashion with good followup.
I'm very thankful to have had that support - I think it persuaded a number of my companions and friends back home of the value as well.

We purchased this because it offered the best coverage for the least amount of money and received high customer reviews. Luckily, we didn't have to use it. We would definitely use your company again.

We did not have a claim before or during our trip, so we can only evaluate the coverage. We especially liked the coverage of pre-existing conditions. Almost impossible to find that months after the first down payment on a trip.

Thank you for bringing the terms for the Pre-existing Condition Waiver under the Generali Premium plan to the attention of your fellow travelers.
The majority of Comprehensive plans offer a waiver of the Pre-existing Condition Exclusion if you purchase the policy within 10 to 21 days of the Initial Trip Payment Date. However, the Generali Global Assistance Premium plan offers that waiver if you purchase their policy prior to or within 24 hours of your final trip payment:
"We will not pay for loss or expense caused by or incurred resulting from a Pre-Existing Condition, as defined in the Definitions section, including death that results therefrom. This Exclusion does not apply provided you meet the following requirements:
a. coverage is purchased prior to or within 24 hours of your final Trip Payment; and
b. you are medically able to travel at the time the coverage is purchased; and
c. you insure 100% of your prepaid Trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions."
Because there are no travel insurance plans that will cover every situation, InsureMyTrip encourages travelers to carefully review your policy certificate prior to purchasing the policy. Generali also offers a 10 day review period:
