I would never travel without insurance, just in case, but I would like to see the company do a review of its rates. Are the rates in line with the number of claims paid? The process of purchasing the policy and the options available are top notch. I understand that they are a business and need to make money, but a review of the rates is my recommendation. My husband and I and the others that we have traveled with have always used this company.

As the traveler's ages change, trip costs increase or the length of the trip is extended, the prices will also change accordingly. Typically, the number of claims filed or paid would not have an effect on the rate of the policy that is provided.

I love the way you present the choices - costs and benefits - of all the available plans. Very comprehensive. Makes a confusing decision much easier. I had no claims with this recent trip, but I have had a claim in the past, and AIG handled it beautifully and to my complete satisfaction.

Unfortunately pets are not considered family members for the purposes of insurance. One of our cats had to have surgery a few days before our trip and we were faced with having to lose all of the money for our trip or pay to have the cat stay in the hospital, which was an added expense and very stressful on the cat. Insurance companies should realize that animals are family members and include them as part of the coverage with proper documentation from a veterinarian.

There are 3 conditions that must be met to purchase a Cancel For Any Reason Rider as follows: Purchase the policy within 10 - 21 days of First Trip Payment; Insure ALL prepaid and non-refundable travel expenses prior to departure; Trip arrangements must be canceled more than 48 hours prior to the departure date. If you meet all 3 of these conditions, most of the policies will reimburse you 75% of your trip costs, unless otherwise noted. I took a 10-day walking trek in Iceland. While I normally don't insure myself--I've walked mountains for 20+ years, our vendor recommended it so I did. No injuries for the 30 of us. Peace of mind, however, in case something did.
