Nationwide Mutual Insurance
Choice Cruise
This was only our second time buying trip insurance and Nationwide was very patient explaining to me the rules and procedures.
We had two small claims. 1) We had a boating accident on our trip, the day before we boarded our cruise, and my partner injured his back. When we got home, we submitted a claim for a doctor visit with X-rays and a prescription. 2) While onboard our cruise, I had to see the ship's doctor to be tested for the flu and also get a prescription, and I submitted a claim for that also.
Both claims were small, but they were handled very well by Nationwide. The only potential glitch was that I knew ahead of time that I would need to submit the doctor's report in order for my claim to be paid, but our cruise line for some odd reason, gave me a very hard time with that. The doctor would not give me a report - he said I'd have to call and ask the corporate office for it when we got home. However, when I called, they did not want to send it to me either! I eventually did get it, but meanwhile I explained the situation to Nationwide, and provided them with other documents proving the claim, and they were very cooperative. Within a little over a week of submitting all of the required documents, I had a reimbursement check for the full amount of both claims.
Fortunately, we did not have any big claim, but if we ever do and they handle them as well as they did these, I will continue to be very happy with them!

We did follow up with Nationwide claims who indicated that you made several calls to the company but did not submit a claim. We regret to hear that you believed the paperwork required was excessive, but the paperwork is necessary to submit a claim.
Nationwide also advised that the estate of the deceased would have to request the policy refund.
