The best insurance is the one you don't need...to file a claim against. Then service and cost is the key discriminator. InsureMyTrip exceeds those expectations.

I delayed filing a claim with Travelex because I wanted to exhaust my "administrative remedies" with United Airlines. In the end after several attempts at reimbursement for flight cancellation and delay expenses, they exhausted me, but maybe not forever. (This is one way to spread the word.) When I filed a claim with Travelex (actually Nationwide, the underwriter), I was paid in full for documented expenses within two weeks. Great service, and they helped me with the filing on the phone so my claim could be complete.

While I did not have to file a claim with Travelex on this trip, I have filed a claim with them on a previous trip. The process was simple and relatively painless; that's why I will continue to insure my trips with them.

My husband did take a fall on wet marble steps in Cazorla, Spain and scraped his shinbone skin from ankle to knee. We went to the local clinic where he was cleaned & bandaged. There was no charge for the clinic. The skin is slow healing but so far seems to be getting there. The good thing ws that if we had encountered costs we would have been able to deal with any problems. I'm just glad he didn't break a leg!

I place a lot of weight on the fact that Travelex is the primary medical reimburser rather than secondary, which means you have to bill your own insurance first. Our own insurance at home covers very little on overseas travel, if any.
