We lost our home in the California wildfires and the many loops they put us through to try and create paperwork we did not still have as it was burnt in the fire was so very distressing to us. There was little to none empathy from the company. They made us feel that we were not being truthful with them. Will never use Travelex again and will be passing the poor service that we received to all our friends and family.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. Travelex has responded to your review as follows:
"We want to thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns and we are sorry to hear about your home being burned in the California wildfires.
Please keep in mind that insurance is highly regulated. In order to validate coverage, completed claim forms and documentation are an important part of the claim process as it relates to the specific conditions, as listed in the plan purchased. Once all documentation was received, the Claim Representative promptly assessed the claim and payment was released on November 20, 2017 (within 6 days). We have confirmed that both checks were cashed in December 2017.
If this information is not accurate, and you did not receive and cash the checks please contact the Claim Administrator at 1-866-968-2061, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-7pm CST."
Had to get medical treatment on the ship for coughing, congestion, etc. - filed a claim and was processed within 3 weeks. They pay as primary so no hassle with having to file with our insurance first, etc. Will definitely use Travelex again - highly recommend!

Bare bones policy for the price. Make sure you read the fine print. In our case, the St. John USVI villa we were supposed to stay in was damaged by a hurricane and uninhabitable due to lack of power on the island. The "uninhabitable home" coverage in the Travel Basic plan only applies if your own home is damaged, but not the destination home. This makes no sense and makes me question buying travel insurance in the future. Buyer beware.

Thank you for recommending that your fellow travelers read the policy terms and conditions prior to purchasing a plan. That is so very important when selecting the "best" plan.
In order to be eligible for reimbursement under any travel insurance policy, your reason for cancellation must be listed as a "covered reason" under Trip Cancellation. Covered Reasons are readily available for your review just by clicking on the dollar amount of Trip Cancellation within your quote and going to the Trip Cancellation section.
It is also important to remember that the list of covered reasons do vary from plan to plan and even from state to state. Usually the most basic plans have the fewest covered reasons to cancel such as the Travelex Travel Basic. However, if you had purchased the Travelex Travel Select plan, then you would have had coverage under Trip Cancellation for the following reasons that were not covered under the Basic plan:
"9. your destination made uninhabitable by fire, flood, volcano, earthquake, hurricane or other natural disaster;
10.mandatory evacuation ordered by local authorities at your destination due to hurricane or other natural disaster."
Please consider reviewing a plan for your next trip. Customer Care is available at (800) 487-4722 weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET to assist you with a quote.
We cancelled our trip due to a back injury that required surgery and rehabilitation. The claims process was completely transparent and the customer service was excellent. We were quite satisfied with the entire process and would recommend Travelex for your trip.

Thank you! I had an unexpected medical issue that is quite serious. My doctor immediate filled out the form because she knew how much this trip meant to me, but she also was against me traveling until my surgery and recovery. Travelex was polite and professional when I called to see what steps to take in filing a form.
I received my check for the amount that I had already paid on my credit card before my trip was even scheduled to return. Thank you again.

After many changes to flights and accommodations I finally had to cancel the trip entirely. When completing the claim form I listed the departure date as the latest one after all the changes, which was about a month later than the original departure date. WRONG thing to do! Always list the trip's very FIRST departure date, not the final departure date after all the rescheduling. Apparently the claims adjusters didn't read the back up info that I included showing all the costs and an changes to the departure dates; they only looked at the final departure date and disallowed the costs prior to that date. They sent me a partial reimbursement check which was approx. ½ of my total claim I resubmitted my claim along with all the backup data (again) showing the original departure date and they finally paid the balance of the claim.

We are very pleased to hear that you did receive full reimbursement of your non-refundable travel expenses. In the future, please remember that you may call us to request an advocate who will support you with the process if you believe that you have a claim that has been unfairly denied. We look forward to working with you in the future.
We were delayed in JFK for 5 hours on our flight from London. We had a flight to Fort Lauderdale that was delayed, and if it hadn't been for asking flight was, would never have known. Delta never posted a change. I will never insure again, because I only asked for $200 for the inconvenience of the whole thing.
We had to walk outside to another terminal in torrential rain, got soaked, because there was no other way to get to the change of terminal. JFK needs to find a better way, than get passengers soaked in freezing rain. We had a meal but I threw the receipt away, so so course the only paperwork I had was the boarding passes. I will never fly Delta again. It was a horrible flight from London, a delay at JFK and we got into Fort Lauderdale at 2.30am the following morning, without a stroller too.

We want to thank you for taking the time to post your concerns, and we are sorry for your frustration.
The Travel Basic policy has a Trip Delay Benefit Amount up to 500. This benefit allows reimbursement, if there was a 5 hour or more delay, for “hotel accommodations, meals, telephone calls and local transportation while you are delayed.â€
I have personally contacted the Claim Administrator on your behalf and they have advised in order to consider reimbursement under the Trip Delay benefit they require proof of the delay, which you may obtain by contacting Delta, and documentation for your out-of-pocket expenses, such as a credit card statement or receipt.
In regard to arriving in Fort Lauderdale without a stroller, the Baggage and Personal Effects Benefit Amount on the Travel Basic plan is up to 500. This benefit provides reimbursement for lost or stolen items as described in the plan. In order to receive the Baggage and Personal Effects Benefit the Claims Administrator would need documentation showing that the stroller was lost or stolen, for instance, from the Airline or Police Department. They would also need a receipt for the original item or replaced item, to consider reimbursement under this benefit.
Please keep in mind that Insurance is highly regulated and in order to validate coverage, claim forms and documentation (including documentation from the airline on the reason for the delay and the lost stroller) are an important part of the claim process as it relates to the specific conditions as listed in the plan purchased.
We trust that you understand the Claim Administrator’s decision is based on the terms and conditions of the policy and the available information. If this information is incomplete or inaccurate, please feel free to submit any additional information to the Claims Administrator and they will gladly reevaluate your claim.
