Our baggage was lost in route on our insured trip from Phoenix to Bangkok. I provided all of the required documentation to Nationwide within a week from returning home. Nationwide sent an email stating that they approved my claim and sent a check on 6-12-24. Today is 8-4-24 and I still haven’t received the check. Nationwide has not responded to any correspondence since they claimed to send the check. I would not recommend!

I will use Insure my Trip/Nationwide Insurance from now on! I paid for an expensive trip to Thailand in February. I already had some reservations due to the corona virus but decided to push through anyway. The day before I was to leave, my daughter injured herself. I promptly canceled trip and contacted Nationwide. The customer service rep was a little “snarly” with me but They emailed me the paperwork. It was easy to read and fill out by the doctor and myself. I promptly submitted and they promptly paid the claim.

On my way to Bangkok I chipped my tooth and I was not going to have it repaired there as the places where not to my standards. When I came back to the US I made an apt. with my dentist to get it repaired and found out that it is not covered. Bangkok is a 3rd world city and the thought of having my tooth worked on there was not an option for me. I feel like this should of be covered but was told it is not.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to learn that you chipped a tooth during your trip and are dissatisfied with this policy. The claims administrator is required to adjudicate claims based on the terms and conditions of the policy. With any travel insurance policy you would have to seek treatment during your trip for it to be considered a covered expense. Once you return home, the policy will terminate.
Per the Covered Expenses definition in your certificate: "Reasonable and Customary Charges incurred while insured under this Certificate; and that do not exceed the Maximum Benefit limits shown in the Confirmation of Coverage, under each stated benefit."

Because you purchased a Comprehensive plan, your Trip Cancellation coverage was effective the day after you purchased the policy which was 05/04/2018. All other coverage was effective on your date of departure which was 10/22/2018.

When I travel I often say, "Oh, I can leave and go abroad without travel insurance." But, once I start shopping to price the cost of travel insurance, I'm reminded of all the things that could happen or go wrong.
When I purchased my Nationwide travel policy, I felt that if anything does happen, I have exactly the coverage I need. There were no gaps in the policy I secured for my trip to Thailand that I could see. Thank you for the comprehensive affordable travel policy!
