They don’t cover for protests and riots which would be an unexpected event in an otherwise stable region (Europe). I believe it is something insurance should cover being the unexpected event it is.
I wouldn’t recommend insuring your trip with this company.

We have received the following response from your provider, Travelex:
"Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience on Insure My Trip.
The Travel Select policy purchased is a Named Peril Policy, meaning any reason for Cancellation or Interruption is listed in the policy details, and if it is not listed, then there is no coverage. The policy details which were sent to you, via email, on October 11, 2019, at 6:31 pm, when the policy was purchase, also lists the exclusions.
The exclusions listed on the Travel Select plan are standard in the Travel Insurance Industry and do reference very specific scenarios. However, other similar events could be eligible for coverage, such as an Strike which delays your Common Carrier, as noted on page 4, and defined on page 15 of the policy details.
We empathize with your unfortunate situation. However, it is important to remember that insurance is highly regulated, and all claims are determined based on the documentation submitted in relation to the policy that was purchased.
I have purchased travel insurance every year for the past several years. I felt the Travelex policy was too expensive for the level of coverage it provided. The only reason I think it was more costly than previous policies was because of my age, 70. While I understand the risk of health/accident issues may increase with age & therefore cost more to remedy, it seems significantly more costly than is necessary. Not every 70 year old is a big risk.

The cost for Travel Select plan is based on 3 factors; age, the insured trip cost, and optional upgrades, if purchased. For example, two people of the same age, but different insured trip cost amounts, would have a different plan cost.
I hope this clarifies your concerns and we hope you think of Travelex the next time you travel!
Good thing is I did not have to use this, so I don't know how Travelex service actually is. I did feel more at ease traveling abroad with travel insurance. I thought the price was fair.

Of course, insurance is a waste of money until you need it, then it's critical. We didn't have a claim nor did we expect to. But we were happy to have the protection and you make the purchase process pretty easy.
