We never needed to use our plan, however, there were circumstances that occurred during our 10 day trip that made us feel more secure because of buying it. First, there were weather problems predicted with our connection that could have caused problems in making our cruise; next there were protests in the city where our cruise started; and finally, there was a last minute strike on the airline on which we were flying home. If any of these situations had become a reality, we felt sure we had a "back-up" plan when we were thousands of miles away from home and not able to speak the language of the country in which we were traveling. The peace of mind was worth cost for us.

During our cruise my wife had a slight injury at the gym with her knee.. We didn't see a doctor as nothing could have been done on the ship. So we rapped it up and hoped it would get better in a few days. As soon as we got home I called the insurance company so we can get some treatment at home.. I was told if we didn't go to a doctor while on our trip it would not be covered and a claim would be a waste of time.. Nonsense, that's why we buy insurance and did not want to use it on the ship as it would be a waste of money for the insurance company..So anytime you have any injuries go to a doctor while on your trip for the records.. Will not use them again..

We are sorry to learn of the accidental injury that your wife suffered. The John Hancock Silver plan provides coverage up to 100,000 USD per person for unforeseen, accidental injuries or emergency illnesses which first occur during the trip, and are treated by a physician during the trip. If medical treatment is not obtained during the trip, and the traveler waits until returning home to the United States, the travel insurance expires and you will be responsible for the medical bills. Please call us at 800-487-4722 if you have any questions or concerns. We would be happy to assist you.
The John Hancock Silver Plan provided the comfort that we would be covered should we encounter a problem. Fortunately, we did not need to use the plan.
