First time ever using trip insurance. We ended up cancelling out trip for convenience and used the "cancel for any reason benefit". Filed a claim and within a few weeks they had approved the entire claim and paid us back at 75% of our non-refundable costs.

Like all insurance, it's a necessary evil. We were glad to find a fairly priced comprehensive plan which would have covered our unique needs. We purchased this "cancel for any reason" plan to cover cancelation in the event that we would need to stay home to care for our elderly, ailing dog.

Did not have to use, but nice knowing I didn't have to worry. I wasn't happy that I had booked a tour for Sydney back in August but I forgot to add it to my insurance and it was going to cost me $200. to add just before I left. Thankfully I didnt have to cancel and it was only $190.00 tour. Might think twice about that next time I have to have Travel Insurance. And I had proof that I had book when I purchased my insurance. When you have a booking way in advance it is hard to think of everything. I think you should be more lenient in that respect.

However, in that event, you may add additional trip expenses after you purchase a policy. We suggest that you call us within 10-21 days (policy specific) of adding the additional expenses so we can re-quote your policy and add the trip cost onto your existing policy.Jan 28,2020

I thought price was high, although it was fairly comprehensive.
No idea how they handle claims, as thankfully we didn't have issues.

My primary purpose for the coverage was to insure my flights and other expenses. The fine print basically ensure me not to expect any real coverage. I missed a flight and was told, its not covered unless I lost my passport. Cost a lot of money and inconvenience.

Comprehensive plans are designed to cover as many risks as possible, but is very rare for any insurance plan to cover all possible risks. The IMG iTravelInsured LX plan is a Comprehensive plan which covers a wide range of perils and hazards for Travel Delay and Trip Interruption. Unfortunately, it was determined that the event that interrupted your trip did not fall within the scope of coverage on this plan.

The IMG plan we purchased offered all the provisions we were looking for while traveling outside of the US. Fortunately we did not have to file a claim, but we did extend the duration of the insurance coverage since we decided to extend our vacation by 10 more days. We did not have any difficulty in obtaining the extension and Insuremytrip.com was very helpful in obtaining the desired extension.
