It’s a peace of mind thing that we do when traveling out of the country. A few years back when my wife’s mom and mine were ill we used Generali when doing domestic travel and had to use it once or twice and the whole process went smoothly.

It was easy to purchase the policy. The price was reasonable compared to other plans. It had the coverage I was seeking. Thankfully I did not have to use the policy so I cannot comment on Generali Global Assistance's services.

Insurance is something you are glad to have if needed. I thankfully did not need to make a claim so I am not sure how responsive this company would be during a claim. I also have a policy for my upcoming trip to the Azores in September. Hopefully I will not need the insurance during that trip either. I think the policy has good coverage for the price.

I have traveled for pleasure many different places in the world, and I always seem to choose Generali, given the sort of coverage I feel I need. Only once have I needed to file a claim; but when I did, the company was prompt and easy to deal with.

While Generali ultimately paid, they created many unnecessary obstacles and made the process long and complicated. They made me submit one expense 4 times before paying. They gave me incorrect info about what I could collect for making it seem almost impossible to collect the dominant expense, before another rep told me the truth. My rep gave me an unworking phone number in case I wanted to reach her. After paying me for some expenses, they said they had to pay me half and my wife the rest, but two months after paying me my wife hadn't received her half and they finally paid me. WARNING: IN READING REVIEWS NOTE THAT ALMOST ALL REVIEWERS DID NOT MAKE A CLAIM AND FILE POSITIVE REVIEWS, WHILE REVIEWS FROM THOSE MAKING CLAIMS ARE MUCH MORE NEGATIVE.

It’s hard to rate travel insure when there was no need to file a claim. My only ratings can be based on cost and coverage comparisons with other companies offerings.
